Chris' posts redirected me to focus less on the "technical" aspects of the greenroof details, and more on how the green roof could be further developed to communicate my concept.... namely, focusing on the transition between the interior and exterior and how the greenroof will transition into the adjacent spaces..... rather than doing something as overt as having grass actually inside, I am leaning toward using some type of transition material between the two.... in this case, I am experimenting with landscaping pavers which can soften the transition between the media labs and greenroof.... You will also notice the addition of a a vertical glass (everything here is glass) tower in the center of the pavers.... This is potentially some type of elevator, perhaps similar to the one used at the new ICA in Boston, which can also help reinforce the transition by bridging the interior and exterior.....I see the potential for an exciting elevator ride when you are simultaneously inside and outside on the way up.... I am definitely looking for input......

Peter,
I sent you an image of a retail display that integrated "grass" as the floor finish in an interior space. Maybe, you could use some traditional exterior materials within your spaces as well as natural planting materials and transition thru your glazing elements into the true exterior space. Perhaps you could further have seasonal exterior displays. Maybe not though given the products need to avoid water.
Put the sketch-up model on pause. And then zoom in. I don't think your intent is being effectively conveyed in the model. This element needs to be dealt with at a detail level (i.e. is the mullion frame for the window buried in the grass? does grass actually exisit on the interior or is there another architectural element that acheives the same effect?). What you are concerned with is the "threshold" - i.e. what happens at the glass line.
I appreciate the direction.... I have been slightly unsure how to approach the detail, and at exactly what level... As you can see from my later post, after my earlier attempts I did not like having to divide the two with glass, hence the atrium... From here, I will address the "threshold" as an isolated detail...
